On October 7th, The Oklahoma Christian Saints faced off the Newkirk Tigers on Saints territory. The Saints took home the gold in an effort to impress the large crowd there to support their homecoming game.
Before the game, several of the Saints Football boys participated in the homecoming events, which included multiple games and fun dress up days at school. About 15 minutes before the game, the seniors Devyn Fisher, Drew Adcock, and Hank Oakes competed to be crowned homecoming king. The winner was Devyn Fisher, who came out on top and got a pre game good luck kiss from his girlfriend, who won homecoming queen.
All the events and games came to an end when the Newkirk Tigers kicked off the ball to start the first quarter.Â
The Saints started off strong with the ball, pursuing through a tough defensive front. They worked hard and marched down the field to get an early touchdown run by Brandon Orme only 8 minutes into the game, the kick was good, leading the Tigers 7-0.
With 9:14 left in the second quarter, the tigers begin to get the ball moving and lengthening their strides with the ball. The Tigers let the ball fly intending the long ball, intercepted by Drew Adcock and brought to the house with an incredible run for a touchdown. The Saints then receive the ball and quickly gain yardage on the Tigers. Garret Wilson throws an astounding pass to Luke Gray, who runs it 20 yards back home. Leaving the first half 21-0 Saints.
The second half was fought hard by both teams, no touchdowns were scored by either team. But one field Goal made by John Micheal Crooks.
Two great teams and a hard fought game leaves the fans happy and the faculty excited for a perfect homecoming with a Saints victory.
