At the OCS middle school, Saints are taking their passion for sports to the next level by dedicating their off-season to training and preparation for upcoming seasons. These athletes are proving that success on the field, court, or track isn't just a result of in-season performance, but also hard work and determination during the off-season.
During the break from sports, players from soccer to baseball hone their skills to prepare for when the official season arrives. Middle school sports have always been a crucial part of extracurricular activities, helping develop teamwork, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle. Some student athletes are capitalizing on the opportunity to stay ahead of the game.
Many student athletes are seizing the opportunity to stay in peak condition; Jennings Young, an eighth grade basketball and baseball player, believes the off-season is beneficial because "we always have exciting things to do, working in a classroom or running outside--even yoga--it just makes me thrilled to play sports."
Another middle schooler, Braden Holbrook, a member of the eighth grade boys basketball and tennis teams, emphasizes that off-season is a "great way to stay in shape and build teamwork through fun games and activities."
Middle schoolers participating in off-season training prove that during time away from their respective sport is not a time to be idle, but a time to strive for greatness. Their dedication to the sports they love will help inspire others to be better and set an example for other generations to come.
