The OCSN crew has been live streaming sports events since last year, but this year, they have really improved their skills. With Eric Gomez putting everything together and setting it all up, and Jay Chapman helping with the setup sometimes, the experience is very professional. Commentators give the play-by-play and analyze the games, and the camera captures all the action. As Sports Media teacher Holly Emig puts it, "it all provides a way for people who are at home and unable to be at the game to watch the game and be excited about the game, because Saints fans are everywhere."
The live streaming is available on OCSN's YouTube channel, seen on YouTube as @ocssaints. You can find it by searching youtube.com/@ocssaints. The videos can also be accessed on the OCS Athletics website, ocssaintsathletics.org. Although the goal of creating a live stream is for people to watch it, OCS really wants fans to be there live in the gym to help create a great atmosphere.
Live streaming started with football games and expanded to include basketball games and wrestling matches. Recently, OCS live-streamed two events at the same time for the first time. While one might not look as professional as the other yet, the team is quickly expanding their capabilities, and several live streams at once seems like a possibility in the near future. The team hopes to eventually cover all OCS spring sports live, including soccer and baseball. Unfortunately, golf and tennis can't be live-streamed because they happen during the school day, and the nature of the sports makes it challenging.
Currently, there are no ads, but OCSN aims to have sponsors in the future to purchase more equipment and improve the live-streaming experience over the years. The goal for OCSN is to get bigger and better with time, which they are certainly on track to do.
