Cheer Makes An Appearance At State

The OCS cheerleaders performed their state routine at Union high school this Saturday, September 29th, at 1 in the afternoon. The cheerleaders have spent months preparing and training for state competition because this is the most important day of the season for them! The cheer coaches are incredibly proud of their girls and all the work they have put into preparing for this intense competition and all they do to cheer on our players.

JV coach, Brooke Finchum explains that "Cheer season is a bit of a roller coaster. There's been like a couple dips in overcoming injures and different situations like that. The girls had to re-do the routine not once but twice, adding new people and stuff like that but they have absolutely crushed it. Resilience is kind of the team word I would say and I am really proud of them!"

Game day coach, Lauren Trammell says, "There are times where there are people that are hurt, and there's going to be people that are sick, and you just have to pull together as a group, fill in and make the adjustments and these girls have done that and we are really proud of them!"

Despite dealing with injuries and facing other obstacles, the cheerleaders gave it their all. Our cheerleaders handled the pressure well.

OCS ended up getting third place, with Crossings coming out as first overall. But even with OCS not winning, the cheerleaders held their head up high and ended leaving proud of their efforts and all the hard work that went into preparing for this major day!
