Track Regionals Coming Up

The Oklahoma Christian School Track and Field team is currently in full preparation mode as they gear up for the regional meet on Saturday, May 3, 2025. With the competition just days away, athletes and coaches alike are focused and dedicated, working together to ensure the team is in peak condition. Every day, the runners engage in structured practices designed to improve speed, endurance, and overall athletic performance. These sessions are carefully planned, alternating between running-focused workouts and strength or mobility training.

Walt Free expresses that "As long as [the team is] confident, we can accomplish huge feats Saturday."

On running days, athletes might focus on intervals, long-distance conditioning, or starts and sprints, depending on their specific events. These workouts not only build physical stamina but also sharpen mental toughness, a key element of successful racing. On other days, the team shifts focus to lifting weights and performing mobility drills. These exercises help build strength, reduce the risk of injury, and enhance running mechanics, which can make a crucial difference on race day.

Coach Andi Matthews says, "Getting ready for regionals is not easy, there is a lot of physical and mental preparation that needs to be done."

The coaching staff plays a vital role in this process. Coaches work tirelessly to develop customized training plans, monitor athletes' progress, and provide motivation and support. Their commitment is evident in the attention to detail and energy they bring to each practice. With strong leadership and a disciplined team mindset, Oklahoma Christian School's Track and Field team is ready to make a strong showing at regionals this Saturday.
