OCS Band Headed to State

OCS Band Headed to State
After the football season ends, the OCS band turns from pep music to concert music, and they begin to prepare for their end of the semester Christmas concert. When school returns from Christmas break, the band doesn't stop. Now that the Christmas concert with Christmas music is done, they move on to competition music.
This year the band went to a preemptive District practice day at Crossings Christian School to be judged and critiqued on what is necessary to better their playing.
The next step was the District competition. If the band got a high enough score, they would move on to the State competition.
Musical competitions are not the same as sporting competitions. Musical competitions are scored on a scale of 1 to 5. 1 is the best you can receive, meaning you made minimal mistakes, and 5 is the worst, meaning you absolutely butchered the song. There are always three judges who listen and decide individually on the score you are to receive. To move on from District to State, the band needed at least a 1, a 2, and a 1.
The OCS band achieved this score and are advancing into the State competition.

State will be located in Ada Oklahoma on March 28th, 2023.
