Student Athletes Work Extra Hard In the Classroom As the School Year Comes To A Close

As the final weeks of the school year approach, the student-athletes are juggling more than just practices and games—they're also pushing hard in the classroom. With finals, projects, and grade deadlines quickly approaching, the pressure is on to stay focused both on and off the field.

Many athletes say this time of year requires extra discipline. Between long afternoons at competitions and late nights studying, finding balance isn't easy—but it's necessary.

"Keeping up with school and sports isn't easy. It takes focus, some late nights, and figuring out what your priorities are. It's not easy but it still builds character," explains Colin Molvar, a sophomore in basketball and track.

Coaches, teachers, and leaders are encouraging athletes to finish strong and reminding them that academic performance matters just as much as athletic success. Whether it's getting extra help, staying up late to finish assignments, or sacrificing free time, these students are doing what it takes.

"Specifically in tennis, while my teammates are playing and I'm off, I'll work on homework. Also, when I'm playing in a match, I try to only focus on the match. Likewise, when I do homework, I only focus on homework. Just one step at a time baby," states Aynsley Tillison.

With less than two weeks left in the semester, there's no time to let up. These athletes are proving that being a competitor means more than just winning—it means showing up, working hard, and finishing what you started.
