The soccer and track teams have been looking forward to a locker room for a really long time. And now, it's coming.
If you ask any soccer athlete, they'll say this isn't only an added convenience, but a morale booster for the teams. Senior Beckett Pomeroy is very excited for the new changes and says, "I'm pumped, the locker rooms smell really bad right now, and there's baseball stuff all over the palace, and that's tricky."Â
Senior Brenna Rowlett will graduate before the locker rooms are finished, but she's just as excited as the others. "I think it will be good for the underclassman to have locker rooms close to the fields, so they can get ready and go straight out there," she said.
Project Manager Trevor Davis said the project is going well. "They kinda had a couple little hiccups early on, but the goal was for it to be done by early June. So it won't be this school year, but the teams that start practicing in the summer, cross country, they will be able to use it as locker rooms and it would be nice to, you know, avoid using porta-potties in the future, for our fans and our soccer teams will have a place to change besides wherever they currently change at, so it's gonna be awesome."
Gate worker and teacher Holly Emig agrees that the bathrooms for fans is an improvement for everyone. "I have to admit, it's kind of awkward to point people to the porta-potties when they ask for directions to the bathroom. The new bathrooms will make OCS a lot more fan-friendly."
