Hello my name is
Miley Myers, I am a Junior Outside All-Around player for the Lady Saints Varsity Volleyball team. I came to OCS in 7th grade, and I have been playing for the school ever since. Out of all my years of playing for the Saints, this year by far has been the most successful! We got to participate in the Oklahoma Volleyball State Championship Tournament, it was a exciting event that took place at Moore High School from October 24th to the 26th. With this year being the first time in program history to be in 5A, it went extremely well! The team grew so much from the beginning to the end.
At the start of the season it was pretty rocky, with injuries, new line ups, and figuring out how to play with each other for the first time. After the first few games we got the hang of it and were getting in a rhythm. Once we got our middle,
Marley Robbins, back from injury we began to skyrocket. The season had its ups and downs, but they were used as opportunities for growth in the respects of being teamates and people.
By the time State arrived we were feeling better than ever to take on our first round competitors, Claremore. It was so encouraging to see the freshman,
Reese Harjo,
Kaylin Cook, and
Marley Robbins, play at State, because they showed no fear while on the court. Before the game started the freshman were a little nervous to play on the big stage for the first time, but when they started playing I could see the nerves leave and their confidence shine. As a Junior, who has been to state twice, I have never seen freshman play more aggressive and confident on the big stage. I cannot wait for next year to see what we can accomplish!
