In an event that has become one of the highlights of the school year, the high school recently capped off its spirited homecoming week by announcing this year's homecoming king and queen candidates. The week-long celebration, filled with vibrant activities, dress-up days, and a fun assembly, led up to the much-anticipated basketball game against Christian Heritage Academy.
The candidates for homecoming king and queen, nominated by their peers for embodying school spirit, leadership, and community involvement, were introduced after the varsity game. The freshman candidates were Camryn Schmedt and Warner Nield. Sophomores were Rachel Megna and James Huffmyer, and the juniors were Kynzee Champ and Sam Gregory. Kylie Major, Katie Jo Eisenhauer, and Hailey Nesselrode were the Senior Queen candidates and Luke Gray, Junior Nsengiyumva, and Garret Wilson were all the Senior King candidates. In the end, the winners were HAILEY NESSELRODE and LUKE GRAY.
Rachel Megna says that "I was super excited when I found out that I was nominated. It was really fun to get to represent the sophomore grade, and I was really proud that they voted for me and thought I would represent them well. It was also fun getting to dress up and have fun with some of my friends after the varsity basketball game." Hudson Hahn, a junior, thought that "Kynzee and Sam are good representatives from the junior class, and I'm glad they got to represent our grade."
With another successful homecoming week behind them, OCS looks forward to continuing its traditions and fostering a sense of community and school pride for years to come.
