Lady Saints Soccer Beats Crossings

How our girls got the 2-0 win

The rivalry match between our Lady Saints and the Lady Knights was on March 12th, at 6:00pm, at the Crossings Field. After last year's historic season for our soccer program, the girls were eager to get a familiar win under their belts.

Their game started following the middle school girls and boys games. The girls started out with Hailey Nesselrode as the center forward for her first game back after an injury. The senior captain says that they "had an amazing win against Crossings. Our team played so well, worked their butts off, and pushed through difficult circumstances of injuries and limited subs. I was so excited and thankful to be back on the field for the first time since my injury in the fall, and we only have room to grow from here."

Differing greatly from last season, they only have 16 players compared to 25, and 4 of them are currently injured.

They started with some girls playing different positions than the previous games seemed to work wonders for the team because with about 15 minutes left in the 1st half, Hailey scored. It seemed as though this altered lineup allowed for a fluid game that helped highlight each of the girls' talents.

After the half, the Saints kept their momentum going, and Hailey scored again, making it 2-0. Not long after, freshmen winger, Rylie Eldridge, was seriously injured. However, the girls did not go into a panicked style of play and their defense held off the Knights for the remainder of the game, leaving it a shutout.

Sophomore midfielder, Blair Rowlett, recalls that the team "has already made a lot of improvement since the beginning of the season, and it really showed last night."

Don't forget to check the schedule so you can come and see our Lady Saints dominate yet again!
