On Monday, April 16, The Saints Baseball team got to leave school early and hit the road to Alva. They left at 10:30 and had a three hour bus ride ahead of them. They got to the facility around 1:30 and were allowed into the Alva indoor facility where there was a turf football field and batting cages. The game started at 3:30 so the team got onto the field an hour before at 2:30. This is so the team can do their stretches to get loose before the game. It was also a Double Header which means the two teams played back to back games. This is because district games are played both home and away against the same team to get accurate rankings for playoffs.
Wyatt Fitzgerald was the starting pitcher for the first game and he said, "it was a long drive and we completely destroyed them."
Both games the Saints beat the Alva Goldbugs first, 10-4 and then 20-10.
Junior Spencer Schwandt said he "felt like I was on the bus longer than the actual baseball game."
The team played well and got a great district win!
