While OCS may be a small school compared to others in the Edmond area, we are blessed to have a weight room on our campus. It's located in the Student Center next to the Middle School. You'll find our athletes working out before, during, and after each sport season.
Basketball players are some of the main users of the weight room right now, working out about an hour each day. They're working their legs for jumping and their arms for strength to go up against our rivals.Â
"The benefit of working out is that we get bigger and stronger because we have to go up against bigger opponents," says junior Jackson Rowell.Â
Along with basketball, the track team works on getting ready for their spring season. They have lists of workouts that are planned ahead, so that when they're in the weight room, they're ready to get started. They switch between leg days and arm days on Tuesdays and Thursdays.Â
Many of the football team athletes also work out during the off season. It isn't required, but many say they enjoy it. You'll usually find them there in the early mornings.
"Working out in the offseason is pretty good, you know. You get to stay in shape for next season," says junior
HANK GREEN.Â
Does the increased number of users mean there's the need for expansion? Only time will tell. In the meantime, athletes say they are just grateful to have the one they have now.
