The 23 day long Christmas break was a time for family, friends, traditions, and relaxation, but did it include our athletes putting in the work when no one was watching? Winter sports are most definitely in full swing, so keeping their fitness at a peak is vital to maintaining the team's momentum.
About half of the Saints basketball season is already over which makes it all the more important for them to stay in shape. PRESTON MCMINN, a junior, says how they "continued to practice and work hard so [they] could constantly improve and work towards our goals for the end of the season."
Though track has not had any meets quite yet, they have been working often to be prepared. JULIET CROOKS, a promising sophomore, remembers that they "had weights and workouts sent out to us weekly over break, have been going to school early to do weights, and still doing our drills after school too."
With the admirable work ethic seen in nearly every area here on campus, our student athletes seemed to take full advantage of their breaks. Anticipation is only growing to see how every athlete reacts to getting back in the rhythm of school and sports, but the most exciting parts of winter sports here at OCS are yet to come!
